Message for March

As the current Elk year comes to an end on March 31st we have a busy month ahead.  We should be focusing on initiating candidates who have submitted applications and have been vetted and are in the system.  Also with the close of the Elk’s fraternal year if members have not paid dues for last year before March 31st you will be dropped from your Lodge’s membership roll. There is still time to reach out to your delinquent members and inquire as to why they haven’t renewed.  If anyone needs assistance in paying their dues, have them contact your Lodge secretary. All requests are confidential.

March is when the installation of new officers begins.  ERs and Secretaries should be in contact with DDGER Nancy Rochford in scheduling your installation ceremonies.  Installations should take place before April 15th.  Congratulations to all incoming Officers and I wish you much success in your positions.  I look forward to working with you.

On March 3rd  the New Jersey State Elks Association will be holding their elections for state office for

the 2019 – 2020 fraternal Elk year.  This year’s voting will take place at the Union Lodge 1583.  The only

position that requires voting this year will be for District Vice President.  This year the position is

uncontested and the sole vote will be cast by District Adviser, George Miller.  Our candidate and next

District Vice President will be Danielle Reed from the Union Lodge 1583.  Congratulations Danielle and

good luck on your upcoming year.

It has also been announced that the next District Deputy Grand Exalted Ruler representing the East Central

District will be Past District Vice President Barbara Brennan of the Springfield  Lodge 2004.

Congratulations Barbara and good luck!

There will be a Training Class being conducted by Barbara Brennan at the Springfield Lodge on Monday March 11th starting at 7:30.  All ERs and incoming Officers should attend.  Even if you think you know

all you need to know about being an Officer, you can always learn at least one thing at a District or State Clinic.

Lastly I would like to congratulate Kelly Mazzocchi of Sterling Lodge 2392.  Kelly is the District

Chairperson of our Veteran’s Committee and will be receiving an award on March 30th.   The award

is being presented by the SOS Vets Veteran Stake Holders of Northern N J for the work she does for our

veterans at a Breakfast at the Brownestone in Patterson.
